We fell in love
with the wonderful breed of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels about 11 years ago
and they have been our loyal constant companions ever since. They are kind,
gentle and very loving. We have now added a Papillon to our happy band, and
are based in West Sussex. We thought long and hard about whether to breed or
not, but happily decided to go ahead after much advice from other
experienced breeders. Our decision has provided us with years of
fun, excitement and joy watching the pups being born and developing into
wonderful little characters, twinged with sadness when it is time
to say goodbye as the pups go off to start their lives with their new
families. Much is said about health problems with Cavaliers and vets
seem intent on causing owners to panic unnecessarily. Many, not all, do
suffer from mitral valve disease at some time in their life, but most do
seem to cope well and live a happy life to 13+ years. The latest health
scare is Syringomyelia little is still known about the numbers affected,
but it would appear to be low. Most Cavaliers are healthy and give you
years of love, fun and companionship
♥
We have
been breeding beautiful Cavaliers since 2004, it's fun, hard work and
always an emotional roller coaster, waiting for puppies to be born,
staying up all night with thoughts of what could be going wrong, then
they arrive, tiny helpless bundles. Over the days and weeks that follow
the puppies take over, their needs most important, firstly making sure
'mum' is happy, comfortable and is caring for the pups, then the weaning
begins, toilet training, teaching them their names, to 'come' when
called and to cope with as many new experiences I can give them, car
journeys, meeting lots of people, going into the garden and being
cuddled and played with making them feel secure. All too soon it is time
for them to leave always a sad time for me, the thoughts of are they
going to settle, have I made the right decision about their families,
soon I hear that yes they have settled in and are very much loved. Each
litter is so special to me, and are always in my thoughts
♥
The puppies are
bred from parents who are tested clear with certificates by specialists
in their field for heart and eye problems
associated with the breed, raised with great care, love and attention in
our home. They get used to all the usual household noises, with cats and
teenagers, so when the precious little ones leave us they are confident,
cheeky, friendly characters ready to fit in with their new families.
They are health checked by my vet, kennel club registered, wormed and
have 4 weeks free insurance. They leave with a puppy pack, enough food for a few weeks, a blanket, toy and an information
pack, as well as our hopes for them to have a long, happy life as very
important members of your family
♥
Flick,
Midnight, Star, Skye, Crystal, Eddie, Lily, Poppy, Ace, Chelsey and
Lotus are all kennel club
registered pedigree dogs and very much loved members of the family. They
spend all their time helping with everything that is going on. All
the puppies have been lovely little characters, all different, but all
equally adorable. We love to hear all about what they are up to throughout
their lives. It's wonderful to see how they develop into adults
♥
Cavaliers
are people dogs; they love to be with you all the time and are gentle
and fun loving, they are happy to go anywhere you are going, they don't
like being left alone for too long so you need to make sure that you can
give them the life that they deserve for the whole of their life.
You need to think carefully before committing yourself to about 12 years
of fun with your new friend
♥
They fit
into whatever lifestyle you have, whether you intend long hikes in the
countryside every day, or just a 20 minute off lead run
♥
They are
equally happy in a family with children, with whom they form deep bonds,
or in an adult only environment
♥
They do like their home
comforts, but are ready to run through muddy puddles, chase birds and be
very cheeky, not quite the pedigree lapdog that some consider them to
be, but very much the ideal pet for many families who are adopted by
their puppies.
♥
Cavaliers are intelligent
and can be easily trained, although they do have a stubborn streak, and
will try to train you, rather than you train them, given the
opportunity. I find that they respond best to clicker training, which is
fun for everyone.
♥
With Cavalier King Charles
Spaniels, it makes no difference whether you choose a girl or boy, both
are as sweet as each other and make excellent pets.
♥
They do need regular
grooming to keep them in good condition, this is not too difficult, and
a good time to check out nails, teeth and skin condition.
♥
They are
generally a healthy breed, as long as they are bred from healthy
ancestors, only needing yearly checkups with a vet to make sure they are
free of heart disease and in good general health.
♥
You must
make sure that every member of your family wants to have a puppy; it's
not fair on the puppy if you don't have the time, patience, money for
food, toys vets bills etc, to ensure your puppy gets the start in life
he deserves. If after a lot of serious thought you still want to go
ahead, I can say that your puppy will give you years of loving, caring,
very rewarding companionship. Everyone who has been adopted by their
Cavalier friend will also say that this is the case.
